NZ renovation and building costs: every project in one table

Independent price ranges for the 28 most common building and renovation projects in New Zealand, compiled from published NZ pricing guides and industry sources and reviewed July 2026. Regional NZaround 8% lower

Where these numbers come from

Each range is compiled from published New Zealand pricing: renovation company cost guides, industry pricing pages and quantity-surveying data, cross-checked against at least three sources per project and refreshed when published pricing moves. Every project guide lists its sources and its own review date. Figures are estimates for budgeting, not quotes: your site, spec and access can move any project outside these ranges. Most recent review: July 2026.

CheckMyBuilder does not sell building work or take commissions from builders. Our tool checks NZ building companies against the public record, which is why we publish this index: the same homeowners budgeting a project are the ones about to pick a company to do it.

Got quotes coming in?

Before you sign anything, see what the public record shows about the company: registration, insolvency notices, director history and court or regulator findings.

Check a builder

All figures are estimates for general guidance and vary by project, site and finish. Always get written quotes, and run a background check on any builder before you sign a contract.
