About CheckMyBuilder
A neutral due-diligence tool to help New Zealanders hire with confidence.
What we do & How we help
CheckMyBuilder compiles public New Zealand records into a concise, source-linked report you can trust. It confirms company status and directors, surfaces any insolvency filings, and highlights credible NZ mentions—so you save time, reduce risk, and decide with confidence.
You get:
- Company, director & entity checks — we check official NZ registers and government documents — including (not limited to) Companies Office / NZBN, NZ Gazette, Toitū Te Whenua / LINZ, MBIE, Courts of New Zealand, Serious Fraud Office, WorkSafe, and Inland Revenue.
- Insolvency & filing history with links to the official notices.
- Credible NZ web/media mentions for extra context.
- A neutral, shareable summary with every key claim source-linked.
About us (Our story)
This tool was born from hard experience. After losing over $500,000 on a residential build that went wrong—missed timelines, shifting explanations, confusing paperwork—it became painfully clear how difficult basic due diligence is for ordinary people. Key facts were scattered across registers and notices; director histories and associated companies were hard to trace; and getting a clean, shareable picture for banks, lawyers, or insurers took weeks.
We built CheckMyBuilder to make those checks simple, fast, and verifiable. Instead of ten tabs and PDF hunting, you get a single, plain-English snapshot with live links to the official record. No paid profiles. No ratings games. Just facts you can verify.
